Aside from writing further hits Gloria has dedicated the past 4 years of her life living and working in Makeni, which is a small town in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Planning the Marc Bolan School of Music. Having travelled with her Son Rolan to South Africa and Sierra Leone and seen first-hand the children’s need for what music can bring, she has started this inspiring project as a part of Marc Bolan’s incredible legacy.
Land for the school has been bought, the school itself has been designed by a firm of Nigerian Architects named 'Bolansgroup" after Bola Falase – Founder of the Practice. It was really when these philanthropic Architects came on to the Board ( literally ) and got involved with the project that things really started to take shape. They are a firm of Architects who have donated their services free in order to design a new School Building: You can see the design here,

Together with a dedicated team of helpers and experts are all working to see the building shine out as a beacon of hope in a part of the world where so many have so little.
There will be more schools in other West African Countries like Nigeria and Ghana but Sierra Leone – Land of her forefathers is where Gloria has laid the groundwork for the first Marc Bolan School Of Music over the past four years
Whereas there is already a small building on the site - the Plan is for a much Bigger School Building that would serve firstly as a School of Music but ALSO
"These Ladies are ALL ready to help. But are even more things coming our way for the school....
Giving back to the community is our goal!!!!!! Respectfully, Gloria Jones"
The first step was to get charitable status, and thanks to the efforts of Jed Dmochowski and the rest of the Light of Love Team that has now been achieved.
Now fully recovered from a severe illness Gloria last week visited London to garner support for her humanitarian Project…………………….. the Marc Bolan School of Music in Sierra Leone, Africa.
Now – we understand that the next step is to raise £20K by September 5th to build something bigger in order to be able to offer a more rounded range of Facilities.
Here is a short Video about the appeal:
